 Anne Lamott Comes to Bedford! Author Anne Lamott will speak at First Parish on Monday evening, April 8, 2013. Among her reasons for accepting our invitation is that she’s seen our Breakthrough Congregation profile in the UU World!
If you don’t know about her, her newest book is Thanks, Help, Wow: The Three Essential Prayers. She is the best-selling author of Operating Instructions, Some Assembly Required, Traveling Mercies, and Bird by Bird. Her candor and down-to-earth angle on the world has earned Anne the unofficial title, “The People’s Author.” In an interview, she once described her goals as an author: “I want to write books… that are honest, concerned with real lives, human hearts, spiritual transformation, families, secrets, wonder, craziness—and that can make me laugh.” Hundreds of thousands of devoted fans think she has exceeded her goals.
Her appearance in Bedford will likely attract a big crowd and our part of the deal is to sell a LOT of books. Copies of Help, Thanks, Wow are available every Sunday as well as in the office during the week. A portion of book sales will go to the human rights work of our UU Service Committee.
