Come Connect and Explore
First Parish in Bedford offers Faith Development programming for all ages of children, youth and adults. We come together to explore our values, learn about Unitarian Universalism and other religious, cultural and spiritual traditions and to have fun. We focus on creating inclusive and supportive groups where kids, youth and adults can ask hard questions and be themselves.
Sunday Programs for Kids and Youth
During Worship
During regular adult oriented services we offer programming for kids and younger youth as well as childcare for babies and toddlers. We also have services designed for all ages to which all kids are invited (though childcare is still offered).
Our programming for kids and youth currently goes on hiatus during the summer and resumes the Sunday after Labor Day — September 13 for the 2026–2027 “church year.” This programming will include:
- PreK–grade 5 will explore holidays from various religious and cultural traditions in the fall of 2026 and engaging in creative workshops in winter/spring 2027.
- Grades 6–7 will explore UU identity and various world religions in Building Bridges.
- Grades 8–9 will learn about relationships, identity and sexuality in “Our Whole Lives” or OWL, a comprehensive and well loved program for our youth.
Youth Groups
Youth groups meet after Sunday worship most weeks 11:30am–1:00pm.
- Junior Youth Group (JYG) is offered for Grades 6–8. This group focuses on connection, games, and simple local service projects. And of course there are always snacks!
- Senior Youth Group (SYG) is offered for Grades 9–12. This group also has fun and connection, and additionally engages in more mature service projects and occasional travel.
Programs for Adults
Young Adults
Young adults in their 20s and early 30s are encouraged to join our regional UU young adult group for fun outings, activities and discussions. This group sometimes meets at FP Bedford and other times meets at other local congregations or out and about.

Small Group Ministry
Small Group Ministry offers another way to explore your values, exchange ideas and find support. These groups of 6–10 adults meet regularly to discuss topics and share about their lives.
If you are interested in joining a small group ministry, please contact Rev. Annie. There is also a short term commitment small group program that anyone can sign up for each fall that runs November–April.
Other Adult Programs
First Parish offers various adult faith development programs ranging from our Sunday morning Lyceums to evening Vespers and Mediation groups to forums on “the future of faith” or other contemporary issues. The best way to know about adult faith development programs that are happening is to join our email list or check out the most recent Parishioner.
