In the days after Halloween, much of the world becomes quiet, solemnly observing the Day of the Dead and All Souls Day. In our Partner Church in Abásfalva, and all over Transylvania and Hungary, people spend the night of November 2 in their hillside cemeteries in a candlelit vigil known as Halottak Napja.
At First Parish in Bedford, we’ll gather together on Sunday, November 2, at 6pm. Join us outdoors in the Memorial Garden for a short time of quiet and candles—just a few words and some soft singing. Sitting in the chill twilight, and yet in the warm companionship of friends, we will say the names of loved ones who have died.
