Symptoms and Causes
Rev. Jamie Hinson-Rieger
“Keep fresh before me the moments of my high resolve, that in good times or in tempests, I may not forget that to which my life is committed.”
– Howard Thurman
This Sunday’s topic is chosen by the 2025 sermon auction winner. We will examine the Trump phenomenon and ask, to what extent is Trump the author of the changes (one might say calamities) we see around us, and to what extent is he the symptom of other longstanding stresses, strains, and dysfunctions in American life that are now manifesting? Is he the cause or the symptom? Both? And then, what do we do?
