If There Is to Be Peace in the Nation… (On Polarization)
Rev. Jamie Hinson-Rieger
“If there is to be peace in the nations, there must be peace in the cities. If there is to be peace in the cities, there must be peace between neighbors. If there is to be peace between neighbors, there must be peace in the home. If there is to be peace in the home, there must be peace in the heart.”
– Lao Tse
Dr. King said that we are “caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny.” We need each other. We long to live in peace with our neighbors. And we are, as a nation, more polarized than we have ever been. What is driving this polarization? And what, if anything, can we do about it?
